Manchester, N.H. (September 18, 2004)- It only took the Hawks three sets and just over an hour to defeat Saint Michael’s at home, extending their winning steak to five straight.

           

The Hawks edged out the Purple Knights in the first two sets winning 30-25 and 30-26 but ended the match with a fury taking the third set 30-18.

 

Alana McNeil (Lawrence, Mass./Central Catholic) and Aimee Young (W. Springfield, Mass./W. Springfield) tied for the team high with 10 kills each. Kathleen McCarthy (Quincy, Mass./N. Quincy) had 43 assists in the contest. The Hawks improve to 5-5 on the season and 4-1 in the Northeast-10.

           

Junior Katie Ouellette (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) led the Purple Knights with nine kills and a game high nine blocks in the losing effort. Saint Michael’s falls to 1-5 on the season and 0-3 in NE-10 play.

           

The Hawks will try to keep the winning streak alive when they host Assumption Tuesday night at 7:30.

 

Saint Michael's returns to action on Sunday, as the Purple Knights visit Southern New Hampshire University at 1 p.m.
