Gallien collected the rebound off the post and headed the ball in to put her team up early. The Purple Knights would not look back after that point. Five minutes later teammate Judy Cronin (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip Regional) broke through the Dolphin defenders and scored the final goal of the game very early in the first half.
The second half was all about defense with both goalkeepers making outstanding saves. Le Moyne goalkeeper Char Leonard (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) made 10 saves, eight in the second half, while freshman Gillian Goldman (Strathem, N.H./Exeter) collected six saves for the Purple Knights on her way to the shutout.
The Purple Knights improved their record to 5-2, 3-2 NE-10, while the Dolphins fall to 4-3-1, 2-2-1 NE-10.
Saint Michael's returns to action on Tuesday, as the Purple Knights host Merrimack College at 4 p.m.
