PURPLE KNIGHT WOMEN DEFEATED IN SEASON OPENER

COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College was defeated 6-3 by Bentley College in Saturday’s Northeast-10 Conference women’s tennis match up at the SMC Outdoor Courts.

The Falcons were lead by Julia Khomitch (Newton, Mass./Newton South), Lauren Ginsberg (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull), and Emily Bedrosian (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) who each contributed both a doubles and a singles victory.

For the Purple Knights, junior Cailie Burns (Chepachet, R.I./ Ponaganset) and freshman Molly Harrison (Windham, N.H./Salem) teamed up to take a 9-7 doubles victory, sophomore Michelle Wood (Chatham, N.Y./Chatham) earned a 6-3, 6-3 victory in No. 4 singles, and freshman Megan Conway (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win in No. 5 singles.

The Purple Knights will return to action on Sunday, as they travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on the Le Moyne College Dolphins at 1 p.m.
