VOLLEYBALL DROPS THIRD STRAIGHT MATCH, FALLS TO SAINT ROSE

Courtesy Saint Rose Sports Information Phone: (802) 654-2537ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose women’s volleyball team continued an impressive start to the 2005 campaign with its sixth victory in seven matches this afternoon. The Golden Knights (6-1/2-0 NE-10) kept their momentum alive by sweeping Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael’s (0-3/0-2 NE-10) at the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium. Saint Rose won the opener 30-7 and took the second and third games by respective scores of 30-22 and 30-23.
Sophomore outside hitter Stephanie Brink (Port Ewen, NY/Kingston) had 12 kills and five blocks while junior middle hitter Michaela Jorgensen (Candor, NY/Candor) registered eight kills and five blocks to lead Saint Rose.
Meanwhile, freshman defensive specialist Danielle Gaudio (Rotterdam, NY/Schalmont) came up with 11 digs on the backline while junior setter Shannon Campbell (Charlton, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) passed out 31 assists.
Saint Rose gets back on the floor tomorrow with a pair of matches at C.W. Post on Long Island. The Golden Knights will meet Molloy at 1:00 pm and will then face the host Pioneers at 3:00 pm. Meanwhile, Saint Michael’s will host conference rival Merrimack next Friday at 7:00 pm.
