EASTON, Mass.--  Senior Kristen Shoar (Auburn, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist as Stonehill remained unbeaten on the young season with a 3-1 Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer victory over Saint Michael's Friday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.

Shoar gave the host Skyhawks (5-0-1, 3-0-1 Northeast-10), off to their best start in six seasons under first year Head Coach Rolando Lopes, an early 1-0 lead just 4:16 into the match, and freshman Kelley Harper's (Liverpool, N.Y.) unassisted marker in the 26th minute of action staked Stonehill to a 2-0 edge at the break.  The visiting Purple Knights (2-5, 0-4 Northeast-10) closed to within one in the 76th minute when sophomore Laura Wesley (Chula Vista, Calif.) converted a direct kick, but the Skyhawks closed out the scoring with just over seven minutes remaining when senior Kate McCarthy (North Easton, Mass.) converted feeds from Shoar and sophomore Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.).

Sophomore Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) picked up her fifth win of the season in goal for Stonehill with a six-save effort, while sophomore Molly Cole (Dover, N.H.) made four first half stops and fellow sophomore Gillian Goldman (Stratham, N.H.) added a pair of second half saves for Saint Michael's.  The Skyhawks outshot the Purple Knights by a 15-7 margin for the match in moving into sole possession of first place in the Northeast-10 standings ahead of both Assumption and UMass Lowell.

Stonehill heads to Rindge, N.H. on Wednesday afternoon to take on second-ranked Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 3:30 p.m., while Saint Michael's hosts 18th-ranked Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 match on Wednesday afternoon in Colchester, Vt. beginning at 4:15 p.m.
