MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO LE MOYNE, DROPS FIRST GAME OF SEASON FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                      FOR MORE INFORMATION September 14, 2004                                                                   Contact: Seth Cole                                                                                                 Phone: (802) 654-2537 SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior Scott Newman (Bethesda, Md./Churchhill) scored the go-ahead goal for Le Moyne with just over six minutes remaining in the second half to help beat previously unbeaten Saint Michael's, 3-1, in a Northeast-10 Conference game on Tuesday at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. After a scoreless first half, the Dolphins fired the first blow in the second. Sophomore Brad Vinciguerra's (Syracuse, N.Y./Faith Heritage/Bradenton (Fla.)) netted a chip shot over the Purple Knight's goaltender, junior Patrick Melvin (Belmont,Vt./Black River). Prior to today he had given up only two goals all season. Sophomore Glenn Sherman (Arlington,Vt./Arlington Memorial) tied the game for Saint Michael's with a header off a corner kick from junior Joe Martinho (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet) 13 minutes into the second half, but that would be the only strike of the game for the Purple Knights who drop to 4-1-1 overall and 1-1 in the Northeast-10. Senior midfielder Pat Delaney (Severn,Md./Old Mill) tacked on an insurance goal with just under two minutes left with a rocket from 25 yards out. The Dolphins outshot St. Michael's 24-12 and also led in corner kicks 9-2. Le Moyne improves to 4-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the Northeast-10 and are unbeaten in nine of their last ten at home.
