ALBANY – The College of Saint Rose men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 setback to visiting Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Michael's on a sunny afternoon at The Albany Academy. The Purple Knights (4-0-1/1-0-0 NE-10) scored the game-winner with 15 minutes left in regulation to keep its unbeaten record intact after Saint Rose (0-3-1/0-3-0 NE-10) had tied the game early in the second half.

Saint Michael's junior midfielder Jerrod Hall (Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) knocked in a rebound from directly in front of the net for the game’s deciding goal at the 75:00 mark.

Senior forward Josh Gregg (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont) tied the game 1-1 for the Golden Knights with his second goal in as many games. He out jumped the Saint Michael's keeper to head home a free kick from sophomore fullback Scott Szeli (Newburgh, N.Y./NFA) at the 60:00 mark.

Senior forward Pablo Noguera (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) collected a through ball from sophomore forward Glenn Sherman (Arlington, Vt./Arlington Memorial) and blasted a shot into the right side of the net from 15 yards out to give the Purple Knight's an early 1-0 lead just 15 minutes into the match.

Junior keeper Patrick Melvin (Belmont, Vt./Black River) made six saves in the victory while senior Peter Testa (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna) had one save in 78:45 of action. Senior Ryan Gingrich (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Seton Catholic) played the final 11:15 between the pipes in his first action of the year.

The Golden Knights begin a three-game road stretch with a 4:00 pm date at conference rival Franklin Pierce in Rindge, NH this Tuesday, September 14. Meanwhile, Saint Michael's will head to Syracuse to face Le Moyne on Tuesday.
