PURPLE KNIGHTS EDGE SAINT ANSELM IN TWO OVERTIMES, 2-1

(October 20, 2005) – Junior Lindsay Harrison (Brandon, Vt.) scored the game-winner late in the second overtime to lead Saint Michael’s over Saint Anselm in NE-10 field hockey action at the South Athletic Fields Thursday afternoon.
Senior Amber Holcomb (Essex Junction, Vt.) broke the scoreless tie 20 minutes into the second half when she dumped in the pass from Lindsay Brancaleone (Gloucester, Mass.).
Saint Anselm junior Ashley Mazzoli (Somers, Conn.) knotted the game at one each when she sent in a loose ball in front of the net.
Harrison redirected a shot from Ashley Webb (Simsbury, Conn.) in the 97th minute of the game to clinch the game for the Purple Knights.
Saint Michael’s (10-7, 10-5 NE-10) held a 16-8 shot advantage, but only held a 9-6 advantage of shots on goal.
Saint Anselm goalkeeper Sarah Oakes (N. Yarmouth, Maine) stopped seven shots in the loss, while junior Tina Nardi (Rupert, Vt.) made five saves for the win.
The game marks the end of the regular season for Saint Anselm, which finishes with a record of 2-16 (1-15 NE-10). The Purple Knights host UMass Lowell on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for their regular season finale.
