SMITHFIELD, RI – Senior Melissa Talamini (Mendon, Mass.) scored six goals as the Bryant University women’s lacrosse team beat Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Michael’s 14-8 on Senior Day.

With the win Bryant finishes the regular season 11-4 overall and 8-2 in conference ensuring a top three finish in conference. Saint Michael’s record now stands at 5-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

Talamini was joined in the scorebook by fellow seniors Michelle Lewis (East Amherst, NY), who recorded eight groundballs and caused five turnovers, Lynne Zolttowski (Colts Neck, NJ), who recorded seven groundballs and caused four turnovers, Kristen Patat (Portsmouth, NH) who played excellent defense.

In the first half Saint Michael’s would jump out to an early 1-0 following a Megan Rule goal three minutes. Bryant would respond by scoring 10 of the next 11 goals scored in the period. Talamini who get the Bryant attack started scoring an unassisted goal just one minute later. Shaun Leddy (Sea Grit, NJ) then scored when she took an Amanda Gallant (Andover, Mass.) pass and made it 2-1.

Bryant would not look back as Talamini and Leddy each netted three in half, as well as two from Gallant, and one each from Lauren Carlisle (San Diego, Calif.) and Marisa Lawrence (Falmouth, Mass.).

The Purple Knights would outscore Bryant six-to-four in the second half but Bryant would hold on for the win.

Samantha Libby (Penacook, NH) got the win in goal making 12 saves.

Bryant will return to action Wednesday, May 4, when the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament starts. Please check later for time and opponent. Saint Michael’s hosts Saint Anselm College in a Senior Day contest on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Doc Jacobs Field.
