SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior shortstop Jennifer Winters (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) had two hits in both ends of the doubleheader as No. 24 Le Moyne swept Saint Michael's 3-2 (10), 10-0 in Northeast-10 Conference softball action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

In the opener, Le Moyne (23-5, 14-2 Northeast-10) took advantage of three unearned runs, including one in the bottom half of the tenth to deal Saint Michael's (17-8, 10-5 Northeast-10) sophomore pitcher Meggan Roberge (Sheldon Springs, Vt./Missisquoi Valley) her first loss of the season in 15 decisions.

Robberge (14-1) struck out 11 and scattered eight hits over nine innings of work. Le Moyne junior Erin Phaneuf (Dracut, Mass./Catholic Central) pushed her mark to 9-1 with seven strikeouts in 10 innings of work. She allowed six hits and two unearned runs.

The Purple Knights took advantage of two Le Moyne miscues to plate one run in the first and moved across their other run on a dropped infield fly in the top of the fourth. The Dolphins knotted the contest at two with a sixth-inning rally. Winters smacked a leadoff double down the left field line and advanced to third on Sarah Reed's (DeWitt, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) single up the middle. Winters and Reed scored on a fielding error in the Saint Michael's outfield.

After three scoreless frames, Le Moyne finished off Saint Michael's in the bottom of the tenth. With Spaziani placed on second as a result of the tiebreaker rule, Winters reached on a bunt single and Spaziani scored on the ensuing Purple Knights error.

Reed had three hits in the opener, while Roberge and Katy Newland (East Burke, Vt./Lyndon) had two each for the visitors.

In the nightcap, Le Moyne ended the game early for the seventh time this season due to the college run rule. Senior outfielder Kristi Edmunds (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) went 3-for-3 to lead the 12-hit attack. Spaziani, Winters and freshman first baseman Kortney Meadows (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) had two hits each. Sophomore Martha Senko (Pine City, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) limited the Purple Knights to two hits and struck out six over the first four innings and freshman Caylinn Christophersen (Norwich, N.Y./Norwich) pitched a scoreless fifth for the Dolphins.

League-leading Le Moyne hosts Merrimack on Saturday and Bentley on Sunday in a pair of Northeast-10 Conference doubleheaders.
