Saint Michael’s, which clinched the No. 4 seed and a home match in quarterfinal round of the Northeast-10 Tournament, finished the regular season 10-3 overall, 9-3 in the Northeast-10. Merrimack fell to 6-6, 6-5. Conway (Lynnfield, Mass.), who also won at third doubles for the Purple Knights, broke a 4-4 tie in the match to give Saint Michael’s its third straight victory. Sophomore Cara Bednar (Marblehead, Mass.) added wins at second singles and second doubles for the Purple Knights. Junior Ashley Heller (Andover, Mass.) led the Warriors, beating senior Shannon Bergin (Milford, Conn.) 6-4, 6-4 at first singles. Sophomore Alison Mincarelli (Glastonbury, Conn.) added a three-set win at fourth singles and junior Jill Barberet (Winsted, Conn.) won in straight sets at fifth singles. Merrimack wraps up the regular season tomorrow, hosting Franklin Pierce at 3 p.m. With a win, the Warriors will clinch the No. 5 seed in the Northeast-10 Tournament and would face Saint Michael’s on the road in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
