St. Michael's, 7-1 in its last eight games, improved to 14-6 overall and 9-3 in the NE-10 with the sweep. Bentley saw its losing streak reach seven, with the Falcons falling to 4-20 overall (2-12 in the conference).
The first game, halted after five innings due to the eight-run rule, saw St. Michael's take charge with four runs in the second and six more in the third. With the exception of the first run in the third, all came with two out and all were unearned.
Sophomore second baseman Casey Brooks (Colchester, Vt.) and senior leftfielder Whitney Christmas (Brattleboro, Vt.) each had three of the Purple Knights' 11 hits, with Brooks driving in two and Christmas one. Freshman third baseman Katy Newland (East Burke, Vt.) added two hits and two RBI.
Roberge, who left after two scoreless innings after being given a 10-0 lead, and junior Raina Jensen (Portland, Maine) combined on a four-hitter. Jensen, who allowed only one hit in three innings of work, became the first St. Michael's pitcher other than Roberge to record a win this season.
Roberge came back with a complete game in the nightcap, scattering five hits and striking out nine while allowing only two unearned runs.
Her teammates supported her with one in the third, two in the fourth and another run in the sixth to take a 4-0 lead. Bentley spoiled Roberge's shutout bid with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Junior shortstop Meagan Newland (East Burke, Vt.) and freshman designated player Maggie Russell (Wellesley) each had two hits for the Knights, and sophomore first baseman Meg Currier (Greenfield) drove in two runs.
Senior shortstop Lisa Tisbert (Andover/Andover HS), sixth on Bentley's all-time hit list, was two-for-four for the Falcons.
Bentley is back at home Monday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader against Franklin Pierce College.
