COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College stretched its winning streak to four games with a 15-8 victory versus Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 Conference men’s lacrosse action on Saturday at Doc Jacobs Field.

For the Purple Knights, junior Brandon Kobelt (Rye, N.Y./Fordham Prep) recorded three goals and two assists, freshman Mark Agostinelli (Dedham, Mass./Xaverian) notched four goals, and classmate Gregory Lazarus (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) netted three goals. Junior Eric Libby (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) and freshman Mike Boerma (Concord, Mass./Lawrence Academy) added two goals and one assist apiece, while freshman Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) stopped 10 shots as Saint Michael’s (6-2, 4-2 NE-10) won its fourth straight contest, all in league play.

For the Penmen, sophomore Jon Habel (Hingham, Mass.) led a balanced scoring attack with two goals, while four players – senior Josh Law (Liverpool, N.Y.) and sophomores Ben Lanman (Concord, N.H.), Jimmy Mumford (Oshawa, Ontario) and Joe Young (Derry, N.H.) – had a goal and an assist apiece. Senior Davis Shields (Hampstead, N.H.) stopped six shots for Southern N.H. (1-4, 1-2).

After an evenly-played first period ended in a 3-3 score, the visitors took a 4-3 lead early in the second quarter on a goal by senior Brian Flaherty (West Springfield, Mass.). Just eight seconds later, however, Agostinelli’s third goal of the game evened the score, and three minutes later, Kobelt gave the Purple Knights the lead for good. After leading at halftime, 7-5, Saint Michael’s outscored the Penmen 4-1 in the third quarter to stretch its lead and seal the victory.

Saint Michael’s returns to action on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. home game versus league-rival Merrimack College. SNHU hosts Franklin Pierce College on Monday at 7 p.m.
