PURPLE KNIGHT MEN SUFFER 8-1 LOSS TO STONEHILL

Phone: (802) 654-2537COLCHESTER, Vt. – Stonehill won the first five matches of the day and cruised past Saint Michael’s, 8-1, in men’s tennis action on Sunday in the Tarrant Recreational Center. Stonehill improved to 4-2 overall and in the Northeast-10 Conference, while Saint Michael’s fell to 1-6 (1-5 NE-10).
The Chieftains sealed the win early by claiming all three doubles contests, as well as the No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches. With the outcome already decided, the last four singles matches were all decided by a 10-point super-tiebreak, with the visitors winning three of those duels.Saint Michael’s lone victory came in No. 1 singles, as freshman Andy Samara (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) rallied for a 10-7 win in the super-tiebreak after dropping the first set.
Saint Michael’s returns to action on Thursday, as the Purple Knights host their final match of the season versus league-rival Saint Anselm College at 3:30 p.m. Stonehill also hosts Saint Anselm in their next contest, on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
