PURPLE KNIGHT WOMEN FALL TO BENTLEY IN TENNIS, 6-3

WALTHAM, Mass. - Bentley College pulled off a 6-3 win over Saint Michael's in Northeast-10 women's tennis action Saturday night. The Purple Knights, picked second in the NE-10 preseason poll, fall to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the NE-10, while Bentley improves to 3-9 and 3-1 in the NE-10.

Bentley took two of the three doubles matches as Lauren Ginsberg (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) and Michelle Robbat (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) cruised to an 8-1 win at top flight doubles and Nicole Hallisey (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) and Bonnie Nelson (Hampton Bays, N.Y./Hampton Bays) won 8-4 at number two. Megan Conway (Lynnfield, Mass) and Michelle Wood (Chatham, N.Y.) scratched out a 9-7 win a number three doubles to get the Purple Knights on the board.

Saint Michael's took two of the top three singles' flights to even the match at three points. Shannon Bergin (Milford, Conn.) won 6-3, 6-1 at top flight singles and Heidi Murphy (Norfolk, Mass.) cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win at number three. Bentley saw Robbat become their first double winner of the evening as she won 6-2, 6-2 at number two singles.

Lauren Benson (Rye, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas) gave Bentley the lead as she pulled out a 6-4, 6-2 win at number five singles and Nelson would clinch the match with a hard fought 7-6, 5-7, 6-1 win at number four singles for her second point of the night. Hallisey would finish off the night with a 6-1, 7-5 win at number six singles for Bentley's sixth point.

The Falcons return to action tomorrow afternoon with a visit to Assumption at 1 p.m., while Saint Michael's remains on the road for a visit to Stonehill.
