SALISBURY, N.C. - Freshman Mark Agostinelli's (Dedham, Mass./Xaverian) goal with 6.8 seconds remaining helped Saint Michael's College open the season with a 15-14 upset win at Catawba College in men's lacrosse action on Wednesday at Shuford Stadium and Kirkland Field.

Agostinelli, who finished with four goals and one assist, evened the score at 14-all with his third goal of the game with 1:54 left in regulation. That set the stage for his game-winner in the waning seconds of his collegiate debut.

For Saint Michael's, junior Eric Libby (Cohasset, Mass./Cohasset) also notched four goals and an assist, while classmate Brandon Kobelt (Rye, N.Y./Fordham Prep) tallied three goals. Senior Nick Calnen (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) added a pair of goals for the Purple Knights, while freshman Jeff Hannon (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) stopped 10 shots to earn the victory.

For Catawba (0-4), Kurt Green (San Diego, Calif.) led the way with five goals and an assist, while Jason Windett (Magnolia, Del.) recorded a school-record seven assists.

Saint Michael's returns to action on Friday, as the Purple Knights visit Wingate (N.C.) University at 3:30 p.m.
