Saint Michael's College Women's Basketball
Assistant Coach Corey Laster

Corey Laster, the first male top assistant coach in the program’s 32-year history, completed his second year on the Saint Michael’s women’s basketball coaching staff in 2004-05.

Prior to joining Saint Michael’s (where he also spent the 2003-04 school year as the College’s Interim Director of Multicultural Affairs), Laster spent the last six years coaching in Indiana at Taylor University Fort Wayne.

Laster served as the head women’s varsity coach at Taylor Fort Wayne from 2000-01 until 2002-03, leading the Falcons to above-.500 records each season, including a 26-4 mark in 2002-03. He was responsible for the overall development of the program, including managing the budget, organizing games and practices and overseeing the recruitment and conditioning of student-athletes.

Prior to coaching the women’s squad, Laster was an assistant with the Taylor Fort Wayne men’s basketball team for three seasons. With the men’s team, he supervised post player development and assisted the head coach in all practices and games.

From 1999 to 2001, Laster also held the position of associate dean of students at Taylor Fort Wayne while supervising grant-funded programs in leadership and sports for eight years as the Foellinger Program Coordinator. At Taylor Fort Wayne, he also served as an admissions counselor, resident director, intramural director and student activities coordinator.

A 1993 graduate of Taylor Fort Wayne, Laster received a bachelor’s degree in counseling before earning his master’s degree in higher education from Ball State University. He later earned a Certificate in Diversity Training from the National Multicultural Institute in Washington, D.C.

Laster, a native of Anderson, Ind., was a four-year letter winner with the Falcons men’s team and holds the school’s career records for blocked shots and free throw percentage. He amassed greater than 1,300 points and 950 rebounds in his career.
