Joan Reiss Wry - Class of 1979 Sport: Cross Country Wry was a groundbreaking athlete as she was the first female to ever compete in the sport at Saint Michaels. She competed as an independent runner in the 1975 and 1976 Vermont State Championships in which she finished in the top 10. In 1978 Wry anchored the first ever varsity women’s cross country team at Saint Michael's, winning three races and again finishing in the top 10 at the Vermont State Meet. A premier student athlete Wry graduated with a perfect 4.0 average her senior year and was named co-valedictorian. |
