Remarkable and Influential Athletes in Saint Michael's History

John E. ‘Jack’ Slattery- Class of 1932

Sports: Football, Basketball and Baseball

Slattery is regarded as one of the greatest all-around athletes to ever attend SMC.  He was so impressive that he was picked as team captain in football, basketball and baseball when he was only a freshman.  Slattery was one of the first SMC athletes to be honored by not only SMC, but other sports authorities.  He was the SMC’s first ever GMC MVP, the first-ever Boston Globe All-New England selection, was named to the All-State team and was also named to Father Ralph Linnehan’s All Saint Michael’s-the First 50 Years-team.
