Sports: Basketball, Softball and Field Hockey

O’Neil is easily the finest female athlete to ever compete at SMC.  She was the first woman ever inducted into the Hall of Fame, and is the only athlete in the history of the college, male or female, to achieve 12 varsity letters.  She competed in basketball, softball and field hockey, but also played volleyball her freshman year, which makes her the last four sport athlete at SMC.  O’Neil is the only female Charter Member of the SMC Hall of Fame, and her jersey #11 has been retired from active use.
