Anthony J. Nicodemo- 1959 Sport: Basketball Nicodemo was a three time All-State selection and a two time All-New England selection for the Purple Knights. Many consider him a corner stone of the dominant Saint Michael’s basketball squads of the late 1950's. In 1959 he was a Catholic Small College All-American, and was named a Second Team All-American by the Associated Press and United Press International. Nicodemo also captured two NCAA tournament records in 1958. In helping lead the Purple Knights past Grambling to advance to the Final Four, he scored 49 points on 20 field goals. Both were NCAA records. Nicodemo is a member of the 1,000 point club and his #13 has been retired from active use.
