![]() |
John F. Coffey- Class of 1957 Sports: Football, Basketball, Baseball & Boxing Coffey is the only member of the SMC Hall of Fame ever inducted for boxing. Many have claimed Coffey was the purest athlete Saint Michael’s ever had as he played four varsity sports for the school. Not only that, but in 1955 he competed in the Golden Gloves Championship during his basketball season. By knocking out his opponent in 23 seconds he won the boxing state title for the 160-pound class. Coffey was also a three-time All–State selection for baseball, and still holds four individual college baseball records.
